Some members may have seen these already. This is the skinny on the new bits which will make it easier to use the Forum 
1) Thread Count Data
There is an Informational Field that appears in your Profile along with the Post Count
In order for this to update, you will get presented with a popup message, within which you need to click on the "click here" link to set this.
Once this is done, the popup message will not appear again, but the Thread Count will be updated in your Profile
2) Your Avatar appears in the Thread Icon
In order to help navigate around the forum and see what threads you have participated in, there is already the "Participated" Link below the Navigation Header Bar.
Additionally to this, a feature has been added to the Thread Icon Field which will add your Avatar in a mini-version to any thread you have every replied to. This will be a handy short-cut way to see what threads you are involved in. The screenshot below shows an example.
Note: This is not retrospective, so posts replied to prior to around 10:00AM today will not feature the mini-Avatar. Also it is set to signify participation on REPLY. If you create a Thread, the mini-Avatar will not appear unless you also have replied (the Thread Creator is listed next to the Thread Name anyway)
3) Board Name presented in Message Window Header
The Board Name you are in when creating a Thread is shown above the Create Thread Header but it can be quite easy to miss, and consequently easy to post messages in theh wrong Boards.
The Forum has been updated so the Board Name now appears clearly in the Create Thread Window to make it more obvious. This is a purely informational change and does not affect any Thread Titles, etc.
The same will appear in the "Create Post" Header when replying to a post
4) Quick Search Feature
The standard Search Function on the Forum is very comprehensive, but sometimes you may want just a quick search button. This is now available!
Located below the Navigation Header Bar next to the "Particpated" Button there is a Quick Search Facility.
Simply enter the word you want to search for and either click "Quick Search" or just hit Enter on your keyboard. More complex searches ... use the standard Search Button
5) MESSAGE POPUP
When certain boards on the Forum are visited, a Pop-up Message will appear. This is typically a disclaimer for anyone visting those boards to read and possibly use information within those Boards.
This is the message in Boards within the Workshop Manual Section
This message must be closed before the threads can be accessed. The message will also appear EVERY TIME that board is visited
