I have also found this procedure posted on a different group it would be interesting to see if it works. ----‐---------------------------------- Will E Reckit Will E Reckit 4 Posted January 14, 2014 Here are the programming methods that worked for my 2004 XT4. Standard Immobiliser and TVSS4-D alarm system fitted. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMMOBILISER Procedure: Make sure all doors and windows are closed. Insert and remove master key in the ignition cylinder 5 times and leave in cylinder at end of sequence. Open and close the driver side door 6 times Remove the master key - security light on dash should be illuminated. Insert new blank key - security light begins flashing. After approx. 1 minute the security light should extinguish - at this point the key is programmed. Remove new key, insert original master key and start the engine. Turn off and process is terminated. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REMOTE/CENTRAL LOCKING Procedure: 1. Start: Driver's door open and unlocked. Key not inserted in the ignition. 2. Insert programmed master key in ignition and then remove it, without turning it. 3. Do the following with the driver's door: shut, open, shut, open, all within 40 secs. 4. Insert key in ignition and then remove it, without turning it. 5. Repeat step 3. 6. Close driver's door. 7. Insert key in ignition 8. Turn key from Lock to On and back to Lock with a 1 second interval. The number of times you do this will select the desired programming mode: Once for ADD key, twice for REWRITE all keys, 3 times for CONFIRMATION, 5 times for PROHIBITION. 9. Remove key from ignition. 10. As verification of mode selection (except in Confirmation mode), the electric door locks will lock and unlock a number of times corresponding to the mode chosen in step 8. (If Confirmation mode is selected, the doors will lock/unlock a number of times corresponding to the number of remote controls programmed into the system.) 11. For ADD and REWRITE modes: within 25 seconds after the locks have confirmed the selected mode: (11a) Hold down the LOCK button on the new remote control whilst at the same time pressing UNLOCK 5 times. (11b) Release and press LOCK once. (11c) if the procedure has been performed correctly, the door locks will go from lock to unlock. If not, start from 1 again. (11d) To enter additional remotes, repeat from step (11a). 12. Open driver's door to complete the procedure. Quite a tedious procedure but I reckon the best way is to read and learn the process so you can complete all actions within a matter of a few seconds - any delay will 'time-out' the procedure. Ok received my key not bad quality, and got it cut at the local DIY store for 5€
Next step was to follow the procedure for the Immobiliser, I tried a number of times and nothing, so I was begining to think that the procedure was a con.
So I then tried the second part of the procedure for the central locking and to my suprise all went exactly as described and the new key will now open and close the doors.
So either there is an error in the procedure for the Immobiliser or the Immobiliser is not the same model as in the 2004 XT4 used in the example.
Any ideas how to find out what Immobiliser is in the car?

Ok received my key not bad quality, and got it cut at the local DIY store for 5€
Next step was to follow the procedure for the Immobiliser, I tried a number of times and nothing, so I was begining to think that the procedure was a con.
So I then tried the second part of the procedure for the central locking and to my suprise all went exactly as described and the new key will now open and close the doors.
So either there is an error in the procedure for the Immobiliser or the Immobiliser is not the same model as in the 2004 XT4 used in the example.
Any ideas how to find out what Immobiliser is in the car?
On searching I have found this procedure repeated in many places, written and on YouTube, one suggested is that the maximum number of keys have been programed, but I also found a similar procedure (insert key 6 times open door 7 times) that is suposed to erase all other keys, but again no response from the security light.

Anyway followed the procedure again insert key 5 times then open and close door 6 times then remove key and the security light lights up, insert new key and after about 5 seconds the security light starts flashing, unfortunately unlike the instructions that say that the security light should go out after about a minute, it never stops flashing to show that the key has been programmed. A bit more scratching of head me thinks 🤔

Although I failed, I only successfully programmed the central locking and not the Immobiliser I am convinced that the procedure is correct. One mistake I made was getting the key cut first, nowhere in the programming process do you need to turn the key, so at least you can try it before spending money on key cutting, if the programing procedure worked and you want to fully test it before getting the key cut, you can use your basic spare key in the ignition while holding the new key in close proximity. Second mistake was not getting the new key cut by code, it was copied so has all the wear and tear of the old key and isn't as smooth as it could be and sticks a tiny bit. As far as the programming problem, to be fair the seller does say it has to be programmed by a professional, but from asking around and reading stuff on the internet it is more likely that either my existing key is not a master original, or at some point the Immobiliser has been replaced due to a fault. Unfortunately I have yet to find a tame person with the techstream or equivalent software to see if it is possible to program it that way. Still it was a fun exercise even if I failed.😀

From my previous experience with the same type of Lexus key, I bought a used key off eBay and also a new blank key, took car and keys to locksmith that deals in key programming. He cut the key then put the guts from the old key in the new one , He then programmed the immobiliser and done the sequence to get the remote buttons working . Guess you don’t have the immobiliser chip ☹️ Used Toyota keys on eBay are around £20 upwards, then try buy a blank from a good source. The guy done the programming so quickly I almost missed the whole procedure .
