My firstborn borrowed my 2008 D4D Rav4 and put unleaded petrol in and drove circa 5 miles before he realised. The "Fuel Doctor" came out and drained the system, provided some additives and refuelled with diesel. Now the dilemma - the car runs well (just did 300 miles) BUT it has difficulty starting. I tried the hand primer but it does not go hard as stated in other posts. Changed the fuel filter and there is no difference.
Is the fuel system pressurised? Is there a non-return valve in the fuel line? Could it be the petrol damaged the in-tank pump and it struggles to prime but is OK running?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are all hoses/pipes/tubes connected to the pump/filter etc fully tight? Usual method of removing contaminated fuel is to disconnect the lines around that area and pump out.

Check the glowplugs haven't burnt out with the petrol being put in, even hot engines still use them to trick the emmisions
