Hi everyone,
I know this has been mentioned before, but has anyone got a good recommendation to remove the rust spots that appear on the SR model running boards ?
I have tried some normal chrome polish, but doesn't really work.
Hopefully something that will remove the rust spots and protect it a littlle.
Thanks Bobby

Try some 0000 grade wire wool ... Its about as low abrasive as it gets but should still move the spots. I use it on my rifle stocks before oiling.
Or maybe some ultra low grade Scotchbrite pads ? Lubed with some autosol ??

We tried it on Kev’s some years ago and it wouldn’t come off because it had eaten into the lacquer. Toyota change them eventually.

Toyota called in a guy to check mine early 2013 Bobby.......car was registered 10/2012, and the rust spots appeared almost immediately. For wanst I was allowed to witness his test with one of yon dual thickness paint gauges like whit Charlie has. He admitted he could hardly get a reading, meaning the supposed protective lacquer was at best utter pish, at worst not actually there......made in That Italy btw.
They changed my sidesteps........that was 2013 of course.......I even have the wee recommendation sheet of how to prevent recurrification.......”Clean with non acid wheel cleaner and warm soapy water”.......oh how we laugheded.....!

I remember telling Jase to use Brillo on his side TUBES, Martin......cannot recall recommending for use on STEPS, certainly not the steps with the rubbery buttons. Was this for the previous steps with the twa long plastic strips.....?
