This happened to the Saab's dash last Thursday during our summer. It's the passenger side trim strip just above the glovebox. I have no idea how it happened but it looks as though a magnifying glass has been focused on the area. Weird.
Guess I'll need to get out the fine emery paper and some matt black spray paint.

Probably sun at a particular angle that window focussed on that spot - though I have seen similar where a solvent of some kind has reacted with the surface coating. Could you get a replacement trim strip Jim?

Does look odd like thinners has been spilt on it 🤔

No, nothing like thinners have been near. Only ever use Mr. Sheen or proprietary cockpit sprays. Funny how it's localised at just one end of the trim.
I doubt if a replacement can be bought. Although Orio now supply a hell of a lot of Saab parts, trim tends to be in short supply. This bit has the glovebox lock at its other end with a key slot and push-button latch.
It has a sort of matt finish so repair shouldn't be too difficult nor noticable.

I would have thought that the angle to the door mirror was near impossible to focus any heat at this point.
Wrapping would certainly be an option, Charlie but I think that removing the trim piece might be difficult. I'll have a look at how it's fitted.

Does the door mirror have any blind spot eliminating lenses or anything like that? No. The driver's side has a blind spot reflector but the passenger side is plain mirror.

Just get a Vauxhall bit, no, lol Seriously though, no idea whats caused it - looks like it spells JAM, or maybe HAM?? - but wrapping it is a good shout. Bit of CF look to spruce up the cabin.

OK, next stupid idea ... if it's not solvent abuse nor focused radiant heat from the sun, could it possibly be heat from within? It does say "AIRBAG" just above the damaged section. Is the passenger airbag immediately behind that section?

Is the passenger airbag immediately behind that section? Yes, it's in the large curved panel of dashboard above the trim.
