by Hoovie Sun Dec 15, 2013 3:06 pm One of the most common Radio Units fitted to the RAV4.2 (and other Toyotas of the same vintage, including the Land Cruiser and the Celica) was the 58812 Radio/CD Unit. A common request seen by RAV4 Drivers is to add capability to play MP3s via iPod or other MP3 Players. When looking at products, two different types of connectors seem to come up, one is called 6+6, and the other is 7+5 (or 5+7); an alternative description sometimes seen is just 'small' and 'large'. The 58812 has the 5+7 large connector type (large refers to the size of the pins I am supposing, as the 6+6 has smaller pins :s_wink) Here is a photo of the rear of a 58112 - this may be of use when sourcing a MP3 adapter to compare against what is being sold.... The following diagram shows the pin out of the wiring: Note that these are based on the radio and wiring from a 2005 XT3 with no CD-Changer or TMC unit. If you have these, you might have additional/different connections in some cases I fitted an IceLinkPlus device to allow me to run an iPod through my 58112 Head Unit - the following is the pinout of that unit for information
