There are a number of ways to display an image in a post on the forum.
Option 1: Using your own Third-Party Image Hosting account.
To do this, you need to have your own account with an Internet Hosting Service such as Flickr. Others are available. Note that Photobucket is no longer an option due to their change in terms of service.
For Option 1, you would type the internet Address (the URL) into your post, highlight that text and then use the "Insert Image" link to 'wrap' the IMG tags to have the image displayed in the post
Note that the image is never uploaded to the Forum and you retain external control over the image
There is a variation of Option 1 where you upload your image to a third-party hosting company such as imgbb, but without having to have an account with that company. This can be convenient but it does mean you have no control over the image once uploaded.
Note: If you have your own account with IMGbb, also see Option 3 for an easiy way to make use of that service
Option 2: Uploading an Image to this Forum using "Add Attachment"
Note: This option is only available to Club Supporters and Premium Supporters
You can upload images to be saved on the forum directly, but there are limits to this option.
a) Only 3 files can be attached in a single post.
b) There is a maximum size of 1MB per file - This can be the most limiting factor when using Add Attachment
As the limit per image is just 1MB, it is not recommended as a primary tool to use as a Personal Gallery 'on the cloud'.
A file uploaded to the Forum can be removed on request to the Adminsitration, but the exact file name is needed in order to do this.
Option 3: Uploading an Image via the Forum using "Upload Image to IMGbb"
The "Upload Image to IMGbb" feature lets you add images to a posting very easily. The difference between the Upload Image and Add Attachment are as follows:
a) The 3 images per post is no longer a limit
b) The 1MB File Limit per image is no longer a limit
c) The files are not stored on the Forum directly, but are saved using the imgbb.com File Hosting Service.
NOTE: Your have the choice when using the "Upload Image to IMGbb" feature to either use Your Own IMGbb Account, or use an Anonomous IMGbb Account
The upload process within a post is identical, the only difference is whether the uploaded image is saved in your own IMGbb account, where you have control of it afterwards, or is saved on an anonomous account, where you have no control after uploading.
Using Your Own IMGbb Account: Once Uploaded, you have full control of your images. Please note this is via the IMGbb websiteand completely outside of The RAV4 Drivers Club system.
To confirm that you are logged on, you can click the three bars (top left) in the upload window that comes up once you have clicked the "Upload Image to IMGbb" button and see if your IMGbb user name is noted (an example is below)
If you are not logged on, then an alternative menu list will appear (as seen below)
You will see a 'Sign In' option appear (as illustrated by the above Screenshot) and you can log in if you wish to, but note it is not a requirement to either login OR to have an account with IMGbb in order to use the "Upload Image to IMGbb" forum feature (but please read the note below)
Using Anonomous Account: Once uploaded using the anonomous account, the image cannot be deleted from the imgbb.com system, so you must be happy with that limitation. The RAV4 Drivers Club is providing the "Upload Image to IMGbb" link as an easy way to upload your images to the imgbb.com system and is not in any way providing a image hosting system or service via this "Upload Image to IMGbb" link tool.
If you are not happy with this disclaimer, do not use the "Upload Image" tool without first logging on to your own IMGbb Account in a different browser window.
Note that to use any of the quick links in Options 1, 2 or 3, you need to be in the "Desktop" editor. the "Mobile" Editor does not have the various icons as it is designed to be used for quick test entry. On a Mobile Phone it is a simple process to just click the "Desktop" text in the bottom right to switch editor, then when done, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and choose "Switch to Mobile Version" to return back.
For all three image posting methods, you can stop the image appearing in a post at a later date by editing the post and removing the links (if you are not a Premium or Club Supporter, you may need to contact Forum Staff to edit the post for you after a certain time)
