My bike is dustier than Mr Farlie’s. It’s got about 200 gears and I think I used anything up to 3 of them. I get that fed up when I see 42 cars following 1 bike because some old dear thinks she’s legally obliged to give 4m and not 4ft. I have difficulty contributing to that so the bike is in the garage - in my way.

Actually, most of our routes are off road, for the above reason. It is not nice to get stuck behind the old lady above, but to my opinion it is not nice to be followed by that lady either...

I'm getting really bored with following middle aged and older lycra clad groups who seem to think they are in Team Sky or whatever and ride as if the road in front and behind is being covered by support vehicles, thereby allowing them to ride en-masse, taking up the whole carriageway Witnessed some truly arrogant types the other Sunday morning who took exception to a large van that they deemed had not given them enough clearance when overtaking [he had given plenty but they were riding two and three abreast and weaving in and out] They overtook him on the inside whilst he had to stop to allow a car to turn into a filling station and then proceeded to ride slowly in front of him taking up the whole road, through a roundabout and then off along a 50mph stretch where he was unable to pass because of oncoming traffic. The rearmost rider was swerving about in front of the van and being extremely abusive. Nice long crocodile forming up behind the van and myself. No idea how long this would have gone on but I had had enough and gave them the benefit of my horn whereby they then let the van and following traffic pass. Prior to that, the other day I stopped at the top of a narrow, quite steep hill to let one of those huge tractors up. Elderly cyclist in full lycra in front of tractor wobbling about in his lowest gear and only just staying upright. Cyclist reached a large pull off in front of a farm where both I and the tractor driver assumed he would yeild but no, he continued on, forcing the tractor to crawl up behind him. As cyclist and tractor passed me the driver raised his hand in thanks and we simultaneously rolled eyes.

Just to bring this back on topic.. Last Friday my wife decided to call in at Morrisons on her way home from work to save us from having to do the usual Saturday morning chore. She was in the wee IQ. As she proceeded cautiously out of the car park she heard a weird rattling noise and pulled up to investigate. Someone had obviously dropped a bunch of keys and they had implanted themselves in the middle of the tyre... A costly shopping trip..

I guessed as much but just wondered if someone might need a set of keys for their BMW or whatever too.
