A few weeks ago I posted on another thread that I was having my summer wheels refurbished by Platinum Alloys in Swindon. I also promised some photos, so here goes: This photo shows the inside of the wheel. The quality of the surface finish is exactly the same as the outside. Note! they mask off the seating surface so that comes back in "raw" aluminium. The wheels have two coats of Collinite Doublecoat applied. On the raw aluminium area I made no attempt to polish it off. Below is the outside of the wheel. I'm not sure that either photo really does the finish justice. In my view it's better than the original. They fitted new Vredestien Ultrac Silk tyres as part of the deal. The tyres were supplied directly to them by Camskill. I've only done about 2 miles on the tyres but they are quiet(ish) at 70dB with a B for Fuel economy and an A for wet grip. It will be interesting to see how they compare with the Michelin Lattitude Tours that they replaced as they were not far off twice as expensive! So, thanks to Charlie for the heads-up about Camskill and Dave ( Davrav ) for the Platinum contact. Many thanks guys

Sorry Dave, I thought that I'd followed the instructions to display the images: 1) Copy images to my account at ImgBB 2) Right click on image at ImgBB and select "Copy image location" and paste that into the post. Have I got this wrong?

Using the BBCode for the "full image (linked)" would work better ... thus:

I've done a bit of Googling, but can anybody recommend from experience, anybody that does this well (powder coating refurb) in the Brum / West Midlands area?
I'd like my Urban Cruiser winter wheels done before they get put back on in a few months.
Maybe daft for winters, but they are original rims, that I got for a song a few years ago, so don't mind spending a little to get them back to better than factory finish.
Platinum Alloys look like great results, but I'm not sure I want to be journeying down to Swindon just to take and fetch wheels at the moment.
Thanks.

I've used the Wheel Specialists in Burton on Trent several times over the years (last time was last year when they did the wheels on the 9.3X) and I've always found their work top quality at reasonable prices. I'd happily use them again. They are not exactly West Mids but not a million miles away.

Andy......as Jimbob says above plus wan.......it was The Wheel Specialist who did the wheels for ye up here at Cumbernauld. A Franchise which seems to have very high standards, although Hoovie was disappointed, having given them some VW alloys that should have first spent a week in the watter at Lourdes......!!
