Hi folks.
Well the Rav went for it's MOT yesterday and once again it passed with just an advisory on the rear brakes.
So that's a pass each of the seven years we have owned it. Not bad for a fourteen year old Rav :TU:

Nice. That is what we come to expect... Yes, ours is now 11 years old & the worst thing that has ever been on the MOT sheet was pads wearing thin as an advisory, I gave the MOT tester grief for even putting that.

Thanks everyone Funny thing is they have given an advisory on the brakes for the last three MOTs but each time my mates checked them they have been fine so will have to see how they are this year. So no Jase I still haven't used those brakes but have used the towbar that we got from the same seller, which has been really useful.

I picked up the nice folder today that the MOT certificate was in today so thought i'd have a look at it but it wasn't in there. So waited till Mrs P got home from work in case she'd took it out for some reason but said no it should be in that folder and it wasn't. So I phoned Toyota up and told that we hadn't been given the certificate so he said he'd go and see what he could find out.Turns out that it has now been sent up stairs and filed in their paperwork and we would be sent a copy out??? Does this sound right as this is the second time this has happened though the first time we was told that the MOT printer had broke and once again we were sent a different MOT certificate that what you'd normally get?? Before you ask no I didn't look while we were there as Mrs P dealt with it and was told all the paperwork was in the folder so she just automatically assumed the MOT was in there, same as me I guess.

Am I right in thinking that there is no certificate as such since it is all logged electronically now? Should have a copy of any reasons for failure [not in your case] or advisories though Paul.

The garage should always give you printed copy of your pass

We had a copy of the MOT arrive in the post and it is just a copy on a piece of plain white A4 paper. From what I can find MOTs are now electronicly logged but that is mainly for police use etc but you should still be given a MOT cert?? Spoke to my mate and he said he had done a MOT that morning and was still given the MOT cert.

Certificates are no longer used just an A4 sheet with your Vehicle details ,reason for this is your cars mot history can be looked up on line . see here...... www.gov.uk/check-mot-history
