JRS is a good dealer. We’ve bought (& sold back) with them. They only sell decent stuff and they’ll have the car serviced by the local Mr T before delivery. Mot history has a couple of daft failures but no serious advisories. Significantly no corrosion advisories. You could get them to deliver and if the car isn’t satisfactory, don’t buy it. I can’t see them coming all the way to Scotland if the car ain’t good. Alternatively a few days in Devon might be nice…😊 Good luck. 👍

Mate had a car delivered never paid a penny up front. As it was he was happy with it and bought it. He paid while the delivery driver was loading his old car which he PXed…. He reckoned if he hadn’t accepted it it wouldn’t have cost him a penny….

I believe that Paulus had his three door delivered FoC and they told him that he could reject the car at no cost. They seem to be genuine guys. 😊

On the basis I’m extremely fussy I’ve never considered having a car delivered…

On the basis I’m extremely fussy I’ve never considered having a car delivered… If you buy a car or a motorcycle unseen and have it delivered, it comes under the Distance Selling regs which gives you additional protection over the normal Sale of Goods Act provisions. It’s effectively mail order. If the car isn’t exactly as described then you can insist on repairs or a full refund. I know this because I bought an old Urban Tiger from a dealer in Cornwall some years back and it sprung an oil leak in the first week of ownership. Had a bit of email ping-pong but the dealer had it collected and sorted it at their expense. I bought our current 4.5 on the internet and had it delivered with no problems. Admittedly it was from our local Mr T who I’ve dealt with for years so I didn’t expect any issues. Nevertheless Distance Selling protection would have applied had there been any problems. Some dealers deliver FoC and some charge but that doesn’t affect your legal protections under DS regs. 😊

You may remember me buying a Honda Civic that was a few months old with under 5K miles and rejecting it because it kept conking out, It’s the delivery cost or no cost I’m trying to work out. I’ve assumed we’d have to pay for a car before they’d deliver it though my mate James never paid a penny until the car was at his house and he’d looked it over. Obviously if the car had developed a fault his right to reject would be at least the same as if he’d travelled to buy it just like I did with that Honda. Say Clarki ordered that Rav and had them deliver it up to Scotland and he found faults ? To me some of the plastics are out of colour in the pics but it could be the light but say it arrived up in Bonny and a fault was found. Who pays then ?

I would recommend them, warrenty is personal (or was)…got a problem phone them up. Main dealer service before collecting,AA is not worth a carrot only covers one claim, then you have to buy full cover. They delivered my RAV4 and I only paid a deposit, once I road tested it I rang up the boss and he took my payment details .

Re Charlie’s question above, I guess that you would need to ask as many questions as possible to understand the quality of the car and I suppose that there will always be the matter of “acceptable wear & tear “ with a used vehicle. You really need to do your due diligence in any distance purchase but at the end of the day, the dealer has to give honest answers. I’m JRS’s case though I agree with you, Bob, that they are worth recommending. Was it you that they renewed the tyres for because they found that the originals, although having plenty of tread, were too far beyond their manufacture date? Maybe it was Paul. I know that they did that for somebody, apparently off their own bat.😊

Yes new set of Bridgestone’s as the old ones out of date and a new screen. Found a few service items not replaced and the workshop manager paid for them. Think the dad retired and left the two sons to run the show …although he may still be pulling the strings .
I ask dozens of question and was sent loads of photos 👍🏻
This silver RAV4 looks spot on from what I can see , XTR last of the line , cruise control, climate control , tilt/slide sunroof & tints on side /back windows .

Not a good example at that price AND a manual gearbox. Autos demand those kind of prices. Would not gonear it without seeing rear subframe up on ramps. From experience I speak. Come in Bothy too.

Maybe I am just a heathen, but personally I realy dont see why a 2005 3 door is worth double what my 2005 5 door with similar millage was worth 5 years ago, even if it is in much better nick.

Agree that underbody needs to be sound, BK. It’s notable though that there’s no corrosion related advisories in the MoT history. Admittedly all the testers over the years could have been blind or incompetent but it’s a bit unlikely 😂. Having owned five 4.2s of varying ages up to 14 years, not one had any corrosion problems. Very lucky? Don’t know but five sound cars over about eighteen years is a pretty good record. IMHO the price isn’t bad, certainly not as stratospheric as they have been in the past.👍😊
