I'm seeing a few Topics that have no photos, just a dial with Photobucket on it and there are a few others.
Is this because they are old topics and no longer have photos or is it because I refuse to join things like Photobucket and Dropbox etc ?

It's because the original authors refused to be held to ransom by Photobucket Bobby - happened before Tapatalk. Some will doubtless sort the photos but it's a real faff. Lots of forums have been affected.

Fair enough, as long as I know it's not me doing something stupid.
Is it not pointless porting over the Topics that no longer have photos ? because in most cases the guide and instructions are useless or harder to follow with the photos.

It's hoped that some of the photos will be re-inserted/corrected as folk have time.

Yup, it is down to the photobucket debarcle of June 2017. Now if you are using the Chrome or Firefox browsers, there is a Add in you can use (just search for "photobucket fix firefox" for example). If you install that, then many of the images that are currently showing a photobucket graphic will now show the desired image. It is worth installing this for general browsing around the web. As far as specific images go, the fix will not alway work as it does depend on some back-door routing as I understand it (Not my plug-in, so I don't know the details) and some images don't seem to like it. so it is not a guaranteed fix, but it will be helpful. Also where a photobucket user (such as me!) removed their images, any posts still with photobucket links will remain broken. Is it pointless porting them over? Actually I believe not (otherwise I would not have spend hours doing so ). There were a few posts where without the images the text was pretty worthless plus the subject matter was also quite dated - those I didn't transfer. Some posts however still have value and meaning even if the pictures are not present, or are of potential importance technically to RAV4 Owners regardless of broken image links, so had value in porting over. Sure, pictures would help, but a partial help is better than no help. And over time, maybe the original poster will be able to edit the post to reinstate the images. For myself, I have fixed some posts of mine where I particularly had a desire to do so. Other posts of mine I fix "on demand" - when someone reads them and either sends me a message or replies saying "I wish I could see the pictures" or words to that effect, I will then go back and edit the post, re-uploading the photos to my new host (flickr)

I have updated the User Profle info so everyone can add some info about their Primary Vehicle. This is accessed by clicking on 'Profile', then click on the "Edit Profile" Button, and finally select the 'Personal' tab, at which time the new Profile Fields can be found by scrolling down the page.
You can see the extra fields on my own Profile info on the left (on the Desktop Browser)

Guests can create threads on the Forum
Are you not opening yourself up to a world of spam allowing guest to make posts?

Guests can create threads on the Forum Are you not opening yourself up to a world of spam allowing guest to make posts? You make a fair point and one I haven't considered TBH. I left it open for guests as I thought it could be handy generally and if anyone was having issues registering (shades of the tapatalk registration nonsense still in my head) they could easily post a "HELP!!" message. Have to monitor the situation and potentially (and quite likely in hindsight) change that policy. Thanks for the heads up on this

After some further thoughts, I have adjusted the access rights so where Guests could previously post messages, they will be limited to just reading posts. The only exception to this policy will be in the SUV Technical Q&A Sub-board, where a guest can post technical questions and it will be a lot easier to monitor any spamming. Any posts of a non-Motoring Question will be ruthlessly dealt with!

Good idea.
Look, if people are REALLY interested in Ravs and our forum, they will not mind registering.
Otherwise, we will just get loads of tyre kickers and be bombarded with one off questions.
A wee bit of commitment is not too much to ask.
I'm sure people will disagree...oh well !!

Is there a "Marked Forum Read" option, also in conjunction a "New Posts" over "Recent Posts" Yes ... on the Recent Threads page look at the Select and Action drop-downs towards the right hand side ... assuming that's what you mean Also, on the same page, threads with new / unread posts are marked as New - icon on the left hand side

You will find a "Mark All Boards Read" link in there. Then when you next return, the latest threads button will still have read threads in it, but you will be sure that all new (unread) ones are at the top. In fact I end up doing this process in quite a few forums, all running different software, as a lot of the posts are of no interest. A dedicated "new post" or "unread post" is no real difference to "recent threads" when you think about it logically. PS. there is a "Recent Posts" link as well you can try. This gives the actual initial text of the posts. That might be of interest?

Modifying or Deleting Posts According to the ProBoards Support section (i.e. Help) - Modifying and Deleting Your Posts - we should be able to edit or delete our own posts but it's clear that we also have a timeout running on the availability of that functionality ... I just now went back to 'edit' an image previously posted only to find that I can neither edit or delete my own post! In this instance it's not the least bit important - just not what I expected - but it might be inconvenient for anyone looking to maintain a 'how to' for example ... Is this behaviour intended and what's the timeout period? Edit: I can still edit this one!
