Corrrrr That stuffs like a yoghurt with sharp sand. I don’t have the courage to use it. Talking of sand, our CRV is covered with Sahara sand! I hope a thunderstorm will soon occur and help wash some away! All the vehicles around here are the same. I had to wash ours on Thursday afternoon; they were well covered!☹️

I used Meguiars 2-step headlight polishing kit on my Rav4 2002 headlamps. Used the pads supplied to use the gritty stuff, following their instructions, then applied a clear coat spray and the result was ok, and passed the MOT. Since then I found a guy in USA on Youtube who uses grades of sandpaper from 300 grit to 3000 grit, with quite remarkable results. I have a used Audi headlamp to try this method before I do the nearside Audi headlamp. And of course the methods above are equally good I'm sure.

Wet sanding is only needed if the surface is heavily degraded. Otherwise your just introducing a step you dont need. Why strip back a surface that doesn't need it. By all means buy kits the manufacturers will love you but you really dont need anything other than and common polish . Id have a fair wager I could match or better any kits with just one microfibre and a spot of G3. Absolutey confident. Of course I use a machine but equal results are achievable with said cloth and G3 which is a very cheap polish . Edited to add. 300 grit has no place on cars unless your a pro. 3000 and 4000 grit has little bite in fact less bite than some of the polishes we’ve talked about in this thread. I use 4000 grit when wet sanding orange peel from paint or reducing paint if I’ve been doing stone chip repairs whic is then followed by a medium cut polish to remove sanding marks. So the high number grits fine, 300 Nah no way I wouldn’t 👍👍
