Hi been a while but here again, my 4-3 had the engine change at 21000, now on 99034, I blanked the EGR of then, put 150 mm of two stroke oil in 30lts of fuel, in my eyes any one who puts ext gas into the cylinder asking for trouble, regardless of emissions, change oil twice a year, I know this isn't helping folk who's heads have gone, just my thought on the subject Battleaxe aka geordie I'm in the same position, engine changed by Toyota at 32,000 miles. I use Millers additive with every fill of fuel ( non-supermarket ) and have done since day one. I change the oil every 6 months and clean the EGR about every 18 months. The car has now done 105,000 and I have never had to top up the oil since the new engine was fitted. The engine replacement was done because of excessive oil consumption. I can still get low 50's MPG on a journey of more than about 50 miles. However, because I do a lot of short journeys these days, I'm thinking about Yaris X, more about that, probably next week.
You’ve done everything right. If it were me and given the low residual value of the cars now I would plod on and see how many miles I could get on it. Even if it blew its brains out in a few more years what have you lost ? The depreciation of a Yaris cross would be a lot more I bet and if some idiot scuffs your car in say a car park it’s less of an insult and grief…. Blimey I’m talking like an honoury Yorkshireman … Im applying the same kinda logic to my RAV4 …. I will at some point as soon as something comes along be buying a Land Cruiser. Because the relative value of my car isn’t great I will park it up until I’m sure I’m doing the right thing buying a Land Cruiser. If I don’t gel with one then I still have my old car that’s only just ticked past 35K. It’s not really possible to find proper low mileage cars these days unless your spending mega money and my use for a really new car is practically nil.

Now look here, this honorary Yorkshireman thing: Is it not more likely that you have been influenced by your years living north of the border? It's said here that a Yorkshireman is only a Scot with the generosity knocked out of him. You definitely show evidence of some remaining generosity, so I'm not sure you are ready for the Hororary bit yet
