As Clarki said…….have only driven a CVT Yaris, and what an annoying constant noise it made, with gear changes not smooth at all. Keich. I take it that wasn't the latest model Kev ? Not the latest, Jase….previous model at about 2/3 years old.

But it is, essentially, the Multidrive S CVT that is used with the 2.0 Valvematic in the RAV4 - 2013 bumpf from Toyota

Well folks we went we saw and she ended up having it and will be picking it up a week tomorrow :TU: It is the Icon Hybrid model but only 2wd which she didn't know they did, she thought all Ravs were 4wd so it didn't bother been 2wd. First time she had driven an auto and she fell in love with the Rav straight away, must admit it was a nice smooth quiet comfy drive in the back and the rear seat felt slightly higher than our old 3 doors? It's in her favourite colour of Decuma Grey and has done just over 25k miles. Full Toyota service history, full and intermediate services, one previous lady owner and is in all round excellent condition but needs a coat of wax on as she didn't go for the protection package at nearly £500. So that's another family member Toyota convert as she was looking at the Vauxhall Grandland X which she had test drove but says the Rav is way better :TU:

Horrid thing. Also remember when valeting it for a friend who had let it get bowfin’, the driver’s side Denso blade was sumfink like 22” or 24”.

Sorry folks i didn't get any piccys and there is no link Bob as this Rav had just come in and our daughter had first refusal of it, but she will be picking it next Friday so will get some piccys then when it's been valeted etc. She is contemplating having the ceramic coating put on it now as she wants the Rav to last her. Her sister had it put on her new/used (Seat Ateca FR) car but got it done for £40 at the dealers she got her car from and i must admit the paintwork does feel very very smooth. But at nearly £500 just seems ridiculous to my mind?

A good wax or ceramic coating will only cost £10s - maybe several £10s but less than £100. Ceramic coatings are claimed to last for up to 5 years. Applying the protection doesn't look / sound too hard, but preparing the paintwork beforehand always strikes me as the more challenging and time consuming part of the job - and you really don't want to spend good money protecting the dirt, marks and contaminants that are already on the paintwork!
While £500 does sound way to much, and is mostly dealer profit, £40 doesn't really sound sufficient to do a proper job ... ?

In my experience these coatings are often applied badly (usually by the apprentice with least to do) and therefore end up doing more harm than good. As Philip says, preparation of the paintwork is key and most people just don't take adequate time to do it properly. I've only had one car with Supaguard that was done properly and I didn't option it, it came on the last used 3-dr we had. Bearing in mind that the car was 15 years old when we bought it, it was a testament to Supaguard's quality that it was still effective. IMHO, Paul, either have it done after you buy it by a professional local valeter with experience or simply keep it well waxed with Collonite or similar a couple of times a year. A much better option, I think.

Well i think i have managed to talk her out of having their protection pack and she is going to look at prices of having it done when she gets the Rav or she said she will have a go at waxing it herself so we will see. In the mean time here is a piccy she took nothing special no added extras which doesn't bother her though i have told her to get some mud flaps fitted if they are fitted to this model Rav as i haven't seen any fitted to one yet?

So unless you value a wax of the car at £250 don’t bother. They will hype it up and hard sell it cos it’s very highly profitable…… I wouldn’t pay 50 quid for it never mind 500…….

Yup, mud flaps are available ... they look like this: ... and in Decuma Grey too ... (but not quite so shiny) They are really quite small, but pretty effective.
