Is there an easy way to disable the seatbelt warning on a 4.2, don't get me wrong I always wear a seatbelt when i am driving normally, but previous cars I have had with warnings, it has only come on over about 15-20mph then only when driving forward.
Im the RAV4 it comes on soon after you move including reverse, then goes into manic mode after about 30-45 seconds.
Yesterday I was moving stuff around my place with a trailer and it was driving me mad and its a pain having to keep putting the seatbelt on and off.

Slightly off topic…
About a mile from our house there is a crossroads. Both roads are 60MPH speed limited.
A chap in a white transit van was turning right but the car coming the other way had missed the signpost saying halt at the crossroads. Car hit the transit van head on. The chap in the Transit wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. He was killed instantly.
This was just last week.
Now I know Widge is not going to nor is he advocating not wearing a belt. But it shows the importance of the things. I used to be terrible for not wearing a belt many years back…

But it shows the importance of the things. I used to be terrible for not wearing a belt many years back… Its funny I have always worn seatbelts even well before the law was enforced, I guess it was from my dad, we always had a variety of cars but if one became our primary vehicle and it didn't have belts he would fit them, back in the days when you could buy a set in your local car accessories shop, still the way he drove it was probably wise, not badly just quick, I remember as a kid regularly going with him down to our boat in Weymouth Dorset, leaving early on a Sunday morning and doing the 80 miles cross country from Portishead (just south of Bristol) in about an hour and a half in an 850 Mini I always wondered why it was so quick but I learnt much later that it had been substantially tuned up. Little did my mum know about it.

I have disabled the buzzer to on my car (it is a dealer job, I asked and they did). I never drive without a seat belt, and always make sure everyone in the car has done so. It fills wrong driving without. That said, in the first year of ownership we went to Europe with the caravan, only me and wife in the car, and there was lots of stuff in the car. I did not fold the back seats. All was OK until on a motorway in france, one of the bags on the back seat shifted slightly, enough to activate the seatbelt alarm... for the next half an hour I had to drive with the buzzer going until we could stop. I clipped the belts after, but it was too much, so asked the dealer to disable.

Found it.. Great instructions, hopfully that should shut it up, I haven't moved the car yet to try it. Are there any other secret codes for doing things? Super turbo boost, ejector seat underwater mode etc.🙃

I clipped the belts after, but it was too much, so asked the dealer to disable. I remember when I was learning to drive and I had to pull over as something 'felt' wrong. Initially could't work out what was wrong then I realised ... didn't have my seat belt on. No lights on dash or buzzers back then (and not legally required to wear either) but wasn't comfortable without it on. Like you I ask everyone to buckle up and I would not let anyone sat behind me not wear a belt - for MY benefit as much as theirs! I am wary of stuff (luggage as well as people) on the back seat after an event that happened to a colleague back in the 80's ... Used to be a service engineer for Screens and Printers and some of the Printers we did were quite large. Colleague had one on the back seat to take back to the customer. He had an accident and the unsecured printer shot forwards and ended up in the front, destroying the front seat at the same time. Fortunately for him, he happened to put the printer on the passenger side at the rear so there was no personal damage from it, but it it was on the other side, would have been a different story I think.

Same reason dogs [and cats for that matter] must be secured when travelling by car.

Only way to know is try... I think it will work as the above trick worked on my previous 2007 Avensis, which is roughly the same system.

Clip the seatbelt in place and then sit on top of it? Thats what I do. I have a seatbelt exemption certificate, and its easiest just to clip the belt in; run the shoulder strap round the back of the seat. Then its easier when it comes to the MOT. I'd thought of getting a spare clip from a scrappie.
