The 4.2 has just started pulling to the left. You can feel the steering just wanting to pull you. At a slow speed you can feel a wobble. There’s no knocking noises or anything else that I can make out or stands out. I managed to get to a local kwik fit and they said they tyres and tracking are fine. The MOT tester had a look and said he couldn’t see anything wrong that stands out. The anti roll bar links and shocks were changed last year. I’ve booked it into a local garage for next week but at the moment it’s off the road. Before anyone says anything the Mrs hasn’t hit the garden gate (as far as I know anyway)

The most basic check in all 4 tyre pressures , then swap front wheels over side to side see if it then pulls the other way. Then a bit more in depth...check front brake calipers including sliders, pistons etc 👍🏻 Also Jack the car up and turning the wheels by hand might show one is harder to turn and point towards the brakes.

You can't really swap the wheels across the car if the tyres are uni-directional. Back to front, yes. :TU:

Thanks guys, there were all replaced a few months ago so they’re all fine and it’ll be impossible for me to even attempt that. I was just reading some articles online and they mention tie rods, inner tie rods, ball joint and CV joints as possible causes. The pads and discs were all changed last MOT for Pagids all round too. It’s due it’s MOT soon but I think I’m going to book it now to try and get it sorted. It’s a good job it happened whilst kids are off school so the Mrs can use the C-HR for work or it would’ve been a nightmare.

At the risk of stating the obvious, if it has just started doing this, then something has happened to cause it. Suspension and steering components are pretty strong, robust structures that don't just stop being strong and robust without a reason. If a tyre has suffered some kind of damage, then something has caused it. Has the car gone into a pothole, has it hit a speed cushion too fast? Of course components wear out but you say that all the checks so far can't find anything amiss. Is it possible that the wheel has been kerbed? That would throw the tracking out and cause the car to pull to one side. Is there any new damage on either of the front alloys? Might be worth getting a 4-wheel tracking done by a reputable tyre shop.

He checked for damage on all the tyres also. It’s really weird. The wife drives it more than i do and I’ve asked her the questions about potholes and kerb and she says as far as she’s aware she hasn’t. I’ll keep this post updated it’s booked in a week Friday for MOT and this 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Caliper dragging?? Both brake discs at the same temperature when you pull up? Brakes seem fine Clarki there’s no play in the pedal when braking and the discs seem fine too.

Finally managed to get it sorted. My neighbours son works for a mobile truck mechanics and he was over last night to his. He suggested tyres but I told him they’re new and were checked out by Kwik Fit who said they were fine. He drove it too and said he was confident it was the tyre. So he fitted the spare on the passenger side and it was still the same. Then swapped it to drivers side and it’s fine now. Not sure how it happened but the tyres got a dent I suppose is the best description in the central area. It doesn’t really stick out but I would’ve thought to a place like kwik fit they may have picked it up. Anyway all sorted now and I get my car back 😊 Thanks for all the advice too guys

Even affects the tyres too!!!

Before anyone says anything the Mrs hasn’t hit the garden gate (as far as I know anyway) I suspect this is a classic case of rushing back to the house and doing handbrake turns to negotiate the sharp left bend into the driveway. You may try to reverse the process, by approaching from the opposite direction!
