Why tf is my seat belt so high?
It literally comes down over my neck. I'm average 5'8/9" not a midget, I don't have the seat far forward, in fact it's all the way back. I'm not a fat git with a big gut that forces the belt upwards, I have the belt fitted in that 'thing' that holds the belt a few inches futher down and yet it's still too high. Hopefully if I have a big bash the air bag will do it's job otherwise the belt would probably garrote me.
Anyone else have this problem.

Do the seat belt anchor move down? TBH I've never noticed, but that is standard on most cars

My thoughts entirely ... I'm no midget either but well below average height so the first action with each new car is to lower the seat belt shoulder anchor to a comfortable position (in the case of the current 4.4 to it's lowest setting) and forget about it until I buy a new car! I can't see the belt being too high for the average person if the shoulder anchor is adjusted correctly unless the seat height is adjusted too low ... ? Oh, and, what is " that 'thing' that holds the belt a few inches further down"? You couldn't possibly mean a stowage hook that keeps the belt out of the way when not in use ... ?

I've checked the belt anchor, it's the first thing I did, and unless I'm missing something obvious it's all the way down. Off top my head there's not much adjustment anyway. Yes I do mean the stowage hook, if that's what it's called. It seems to do very little. When the belt is not in use it retracts like you'd assume it would and the hook doesn't really 'stow' the belt tho it does 'slightly' drop the height of the belt if used when driving. Im 3 door remember, poss' the 5 door belt position is a bit different?

I've only had 5 doors so can't comment on how different the 3 doors might be - I suspect others on here can - but I'm pretty certain that you should not be using the stowage hooks to hold the belt while the belt is in use as this would most probably prevent the belt from doing it's job properly in an accident ...

But is that not just in the 'High' position, can you not grab the D shaped thing, pull it up slightly from the bottom & then slide the whole thing down? Wife is out in ours currently so can't get an image to show you.

Just had a look at ours and yes, you're right, there is no height adjustrment unlike the 5-dr 4.2 where you can adjust up & down by quite an amount.
I never noticed that before but then I've never had a problem with the height of the anchor point.
That belt guide on the other hand is a bloody nuisance as the belt invariably finds its way out of it and then doesn't retract properly when you take it off. It then gets trapped in the bottom of the door opening when you shut the door. I've solved that problem by closing the gap at the back of the guide (where the belt enters) with a strip of Gorilla Tape once the belt is fitted correctly.

Works now. Thanks, Dave.
The sketch on Page 47 looks like the anchors that were in the 5-door. The following page that shows the 3 rear seat belt arrangement is definitely from the 5-door.
