Why not. My Urban Cruiser is effectively a 4WD MK2 Yaris. I don't suppose this will appear in 4WD guise though. If it has a reasonable electric only commuting range, it's a step (maybe only a small one) in the right direction, IMHO.

Not sizewise , the CHR is a fair chunk bigger.

Never did understand why they didn't bring more of them into the country Probably because it didn't sell well here. I guess inside, it looks like not a lot of car for probably more list price than comparable sized vehicles of the time.

I reckon Toyota GB simply made a mess of marketing it. It could have been a brilliant city car but the colour pallette was dire and it had no autobox (maybe the UC never had one full stop, I don't know).
It seemed to me that they just couldn't be bothered.

I’m sure there is room for a small/medium SUV it can join the busy market out there 👍🏻

The Urban. Cruiser was a funky wee car. The Yaris SUV is a poultice .

I still don’t see the point. Cars are becoming shoes. So many sizes. CHR is much nicer and hardly bigger.

Info from the Toyota blog: All New Yaris Cross
and on the Toyota website: All New Yaris CrossThe looks echo those of the RAV 4.5 - which are known to be 'marmite' - but, like the Urban Cruiser before it, it has the option of AWD / 4WD which the CH-R simply does not ...

I'm all for it. In fact, if the Urban Cruiser came with and auto box and petrol version, that's what I'd be driving today !!
